The art of being alone

Do you spend time alone each day? While it’s important to spend quality time with your loved ones daily, it’s also important to have quality alone time each day. Not the time you spend alone getting dressed and ready for the day, but time alone—without any distractions—to ponder your life and commune with your inner self.

This is a time for you to consider the path you’ve travelled in life, the goals you have for the road ahead and your deeds in regard to your fellow man. In other words, it’s a time to take personal inventory of your priorities, desires and actions.

I’m not suggesting you isolate yourself from your friends and family for large amounts of time, but I am encouraging you to take at least 10 minutes a day to be alone in a quiet place where you can focus on who you really are and if what you’re doing with your life is beneficial or damaging.

My time is almost up, but with these last few words, I challenge you to get acquainted with yourself and the direction your life is going by having daily alone time. What you learn might surprise you.
